In this project, I was assigned to create a brand and website for a mock festival. This assignment required us to research non-profit organizations and choose one that resonated with us. Additionally, we had to create our own original merchandise. I chose to create a music festival celebrating black artists. I was inspired by the Harlem Cultural Festival that took place in 1969. I theoretically wanted to create an empowering space for Black artists to showcase their talents. I hoped to bring the essence of the Harlem Cultural Festival and combine it with modern-day pop culture. I created my own lineup, shop to purchase tickets, and merchandise. I chose my festival to support the Black Lives Matter movement to help fight for equality, fight against discrimination, and police brutality.
